Manley Bridge Memorial: Special Commission
At Manley Bridge on the Grand Western Canal, near Tiverton, a memorial stone and information panel now mark the spot where, in 1961, an RAF Canberra jet crashed whilst on a training excise from Germany. The crew are believed to have died making the quick decision to direct the blazing aircraft away from Tiverton.
This book gives insight into the history of the crash, the excavation and the laying of the memorial stone and the iconic RAF Typhoon flypast.
